We all know that feeling when you realize you took a long and sometimes unplanned break from Instagram.
When One week turns into two and one month turns into months…
You might start to question if your account is pretty much dead by now?
Don’t worry taking breaks from Instagram won’t kill your account or your business, and we will be covering some benefits of Taking a Break from Instagram and how to recover your engagement and bounce back.
Social media takes a big presence in our life’s this days. It’s how we stay connected to friends and family and how we sometimes grow our business. But the constant liking, updates, notification and every other aspect that comes with sharing your life can be overwhelming at times. Whether you use social media as a means of communication or it’s part of your business it can become a distraction instead of a space of inspiration.
Inspiration is how I like to see Instagram, a space to share ideas and creations. But there comes a time when you need a break and that is totally okay. It is more than okay it’s necessary for you to reconnect to yourself and disconnect from all distractions and noise. When you do and when you decide to come back and share more content you will be filled with even more unique ideas and new born passion to create and share of your creations.
1. Work On Your Whole Brand
If Instagram is a means of business for you where most of your clients come from Instagram. It is easy to associate your business success with Instagram. I see so many accounts hesitant to even take a weekend of from posting and constantly engaging. No matter how many followers you have on Instagram you need to remember to build your business and brand independently of Instagram. Instagram is a great platform but it is just one means. To build a brand that has more depth you need to build your brand. Not only on Instagram but as a whole business. In some cases, it might be even more beneficial to work on your business. You can delegate the posting and spending all your time on Instagram. No matter what route Instagram wants to take with their business and algorithms you need to see your business as an independent entity from Instagram and work on your whole brand.
2. Come Back When You Feel Excited to Share
If it’s not fun anymore and posting content becomes a chore instead of excitement, then it is time for a break. If you are constantly comparing yourself and your work to what others are posting and creating, then it’s a time for a break. Because comparison kills your own creativity. Come back when you feel happy to see what others are sharing and you feel excited to share some new content.
3. Work on Building a Community
I have made a lot of friends through Instagram and I love the sense of community that it creates. I’m grateful for all the support and love whenever I do decide to take a break. It is good to remember that your followers might miss you, but they will not forget you and unsubscribe. You can help your followers more by first taking care of yourself and taking time for yourself and this will also show in the quality content that you share. Taking a break from Instagram will not destroy the community that you have created so focus on building a strong community around your brand.
4. Focus on Service
Don’t apologies for taking a break. Telling everyone all the excuses and why you haven’t posted will not change anything in your or the viewer’s life.
But when you do come back remember to share something that will impact and serve whoever is engaging with your content. Will the content help the viewer in some way? Does the post make the person inspired? Will the content teach the person something new? Always come from a space of service and giving.
If the quality of your content is high, then working with brands should not be a problem whether you take a break or not. Always go the extra mile and over-deliver no matter what you are working on and opportunities will always follow you around.
5. When you come back make it Big and Yummy 😊
Don’t just take the back seat and relax. Post something amazing and start engaging with your audience. You will know when it is time, when you can’t contain your creative ideas anymore and must share it with the world.
Most importantly remember to have fun. Social media is about Fun and if it is no Fun then what is the point? Express your unique and authentic self and make social media serve you. Make this platform an expression of yourself and your uniqueness. And if that means taking a break then take a break. Do what feels right for You. Taking a break from Instagram is your decision. But when you do come back, come back with a post that is mouth watering and dreamy like my post with Alpro. I loved this ice cream so much I could not stop experimenting with different tastes and combinations. Some of which you can see down below. Only you know when taking a break from Instagram is right for you and when it is time to come back and play.
