Summer has been hot, hot, hot in London so far. I have been drawn to use a more no makeup, makeup look that’s light and natural based. The products I will mention are the ones I keep coming back to most summers because they work for me. Read on to know my top summer beauty products and tips for a healthy summer skin.
1. Use Moisturisers that have a cooling base. I prefer water based over oil based.
A lot of moisturisers I have been using have a more cooling effect that are Aloe Vera based or Cucumber based. This feel so refreshing after a day in the sun. I make sure my moisturisers are water based and not oil based as it helps to keep that oily look at bay.
Here are two of my favourite summer moisturisers they are super cooling and feels very light on the skin. Depending on your budget they both work well. I have used both of these throughout the summer.
2. Don’t relax when it comes to your skin care
I know it’s summer, and we all want to relax a bit more but do not relax too much when it comes to your daily skin care routine. Make sure you are taking good care of your skin in the morning and evening. A great rule of thumb is to exfoliate, cleanse and moisturise. To keep your skin refreshed during the day apply some spray toner it’s perfect for the summer. The spray bottles are perfect to carry with you for some extra skin hydration and soothing. This is my favourite toner. You can always create your own toner with some rose water.
3. Make your SPF last longer – Your Sun cream should be on top of your Summer Beauty Products list
Make sure you use good amount of SPF daily. When it comes to SPF you can always top up during the day by removing your base and reapplying SPF for those really hot days. What you need is both UVA and UVB protection, minimum of SPF 30. Chose an SPF that is perfect for your skin type whether it’s natural based, anti-aging or oil free. Go for what works best for your skin and never get lazy in reapplying during the day as even the highest SPF protection wears off.
4. Go light on the foundation
Less is more when it comes to foundation in summer. Light weight foundations feels so much better. Depending on your skin type choose a foundation that’s lightweight and that doesn’t create a full face cake effect that melts on your face in the sun.
5. Power of Powder
It is always a good idea to keep a translucent powder around if your skin is more on the oily side. We don’t want to go from dewy to oily shine that’s not the kind of glow we are going for. Keeping a setting powder to powder the t zones throughout the day. that’s an essential if you have oily t-zone or overall oily skin Even if you have normal skin, it becomes more greasy during hot and humid summer days and powders help to combat that greasiness and helps your make up last longer without creasing.
6. Hydrate More
To have that natural glow skin where you don’t need much makeup you need to keep your skin hydrated from within. I know, we keep hearing this so often but execution is more important and the more I read, the more it helps to remind myself to drink enough water. Proper hydration is essential to our overall health and what is beauty without health? To get more hydration try adding some delicious source of hydration, yep, coconut water or infused water. Here are some infused water recipes I love to have, rose cardamom flavoured and blueberry lemon detox water try it and let me know your favourite infused water for summer.
