A lot of times when we get into a negative spiral we put invisible “glasses of negativity” on. Where we cease to see and appreciate everything and everyone around us. Remember that you will not shift from feeling low to feeling bliss and ecstatic. As long as you feel one step better and then one step better, you will get there eventually. We all have different challenges in life and it’s about becoming bigger than whatever it is that you are going through. 1. Take a walk in nature with no distractions or technology
Nature has a great way of bringing us peace of mind. Just by observing trees and all the beauty and peace that surrounds you in nature. That can help you to naturally uplift your mood and state of mind. Ground your feet in nature if weather allows, that helps you to release any free radicals absorbed by technology and absorb energy from the earth. This can also help to balance emotions, hormones and releases stress. So get in nature there are plenty of benefits and just by looking at some green nature helps to raise the serotonin levels in your body which boosts your feel good levels.
2. Have a salt bath
What better than having a soothing warm bath before going to bed? Baths can really help you get present at the moment and melt away the worries and the pressures of the day. Switch your mind and enjoy some peace. Salt has many benefits like absorbing the minerals that you may be lacking that are causing you to feel low in the first place. Salt baths can also help you to detoxify your body and improve your sleep. If you don’t have a bath at home don’t worry soaking your feet in some Himalayan or Epson salt can have the same effects as having a bath. Feel free to play around with some essential oils like lavender oil that helps to relax and relieve any stress, chamomile or cedar wood to improve sleep. So treat yourself for a bath when you feel like you need some extra self-care and self-love.
3. Listen to some upbeat music
Music can have a great effect on how we feel it can make you feel better and bring up some positive memories. It can also bring you down and remind you of the less pleasant moments in life, so listen less to “ Hello-Adele ”. Switch to more upbeat and positive tunes and lyrics. 4. Go for a run
You just can’t run and feel low at the same time. Well because when you run your body releases endorphins. This reduces the perception of pain and triggers a positive feeling in the body, naturally. With running, there is also a feeling of happiness and accomplishment. That feeling comes from pushing your mind and body beyond your limit. This good feeling and the feeling of contentment can last up to 12 hours. Which is why once you start running or going to the gym you just want to keep at it. Because you start to feel good and you start to see progress.
5. Do acts of Self Love
A lot of times I get asked how to stay positive when everything seems to be going down heel. When we are in a negative spiral we get into a state where we start to judge ourselves and have negative thoughts about ourselves. A lot of times all it takes to change your state from one of negativity to one of positivity is a thought away. Change your inner self-talk from one of self-doubt and self-hate to one of self-love and self-belief. When you start to change your thoughts about yourself you will start taking kinder actions towards yourself.
You will treat yourself with Love and in turn, others will do the same. Self-love comes down to small actions like what you tell yourself when you make a mistake. What kind of foods you nourish yourself with. What kind of people you surround yourself with. Because we can practice positivity until the cows come home but if you surround yourself with negative people that keep bringing you down, then it’s a question of how much do you love yourself?. To keep surrounding yourself with people who don’t support and love you and keep bringing you down. It takes a lot of energy to keep bringing yourself up again.
