There is no magical way to remove pores and make them disappear. But with the right skincare and treatments for your skin you can make them appear much smaller. Your pores are hair follicles and it is perfectly normal and needed for your skin. What you need to do is to maintain your pores clean. As they remain clean and unclogged the pores will shrink in size. Here is how to minimise pores and keep them that way.
1. Exfoliate
Have a good skin care routine that helps you to keep your skin in check. Keeping the pores clean is the first step to keeping them away from stretching. Specifically using a good toner and regular uses of chemical exfoliates can help to minimise pores. Exfoliate with products that contain AHAs and BHAs, also called glycolic acid and salicylic acid. It’s the best way to cleanse your pores without any skin damage by squeezing your skin etc. Never squeeze your pores by hand unless you want them to become bigger, we have warned you.
2. Retinol
One of the best anti-aging products, but it also helps in minimise pores. Retinol is a form of vitamin A that smooths out any fine lines and brightens dark spots and works to stop acne. Retinol plumps the skin by increasing collagen production and speeds up cell turnover.
To maintain the quality and strength of the cream make sure your Retinol is not in a clear jar. The less contact with light the better in maintaining good quality Retinol. See how your skin reacts to Retinol. Depending on your skin type you might experience some redness or peeling. Start small and see how your skin feels and build up as needed.
“When using any creams make sure it says non-comedogenic, this means the product won’t clog your pores. “
3. Minimise Pores with Clay Mask
Clay masks has been used since the beginning of time when man was using nature and its resources to heal and purify the skin. Clay mask is a great way to absorb any excess oil out of the pores and to minimise pores. This helps to shrink their appearance and gives a smooth surface. Clay mask is also great for brightening your complexion and preventing any breakouts due to clogged pores and oily skin.
4. Sunscreen
Yes, sunscreen has a pore minimising effect. Another reason to use sunscreen daily. With time the sun breaks down your skin collagen which is responsible for keeping your skin firm and elastic. When collagen starts to decrease your skin starts to stretch more and pores become more visible. Applying daily sunscreen can prevent skin damage and keep your skin more youthful for longer. We recommend using minimum 30+ SPF protection daily, rain or sunshine. Chose sunscreen that are non-oil based to avoid clogging your pores even more.
As you can see by now there is no one wonder treatment that can minimise pores. It’s an ongoing process of taking great care of your skin. Add some extra skin treatments as part of your self-care routine and see your skin become better and better. Don’t forget the power of hydrating your skin from inside and out and loving yourself to a more beautiful glowing you. Also have a look at some homemade face masks that you can treat your skin with.
